I'm so grateful to God for people like you who tirelessly lift me and the others in prayer. The Scripture that says, "... The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16 is TRUE!!!

Today is another day of Fearless Friday where we gather together to pray for our needs and the needs of others.
Come join us! Just click the lion above to visit Angie @ Free Spirit Haven. If you have any prayer request, just leave me a comment and I will pray for you.

PRAISE REPORT
:

My friend "S" who asked for prayer regarding her electric bill last May 22 was finally resolved! I got an email from her this morning. She said she made arrangement with PEPCO and PEPCO agreed that she just pay $100 tomorrow and another $200 on Monday. At first they wanted over $500; now they're accepting the $300 with no disconnection. Praise God!!!

PRAYER REQUESTS:
  1. Angie's son, Randan. He's got a job but his employer is cursing him all day. The guy sure has serious mental problems. Please pray for Randan's safety. He needs the job.
  2. My friend Lanie who's boss gave her her last paycheck but his funds were insufficient. She tried calling him but he wasn't answering his phone. Lanie needs the money.
  3. Financial provision for me to pay my bills.
  4. My mom's complete healing from Diabetes and its complications.
  5. My heart's desire.

"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37

Thankful Thursday - The Voice Of God

Thursday, May 28, 2009

I was sitting in front of my computer and didn't really know what to write. This week was full of struggles. It was like there's a tug o' war going on inside me. But thank God I managed to squeeze my mind and heart out to come up with things to thank God for. There must be something!

Lord, thank you for speaking to me to give me guidance and assurance that I'm doing the right thing. Thank you for allowing me to hear your still, small voice. Thank you, Lord, for your comfort, your patience and love for me. Thank you for assuring me of my victory. In Jesus' name, amen.

How about you, what are you thankful for this week?

The Prayer Of Petition

Monday, May 25, 2009
I felt so loved by the messages you, my dear friends, left on my recent Thankful Thursday and Fearless Friday posts. Although my heart is crushed for what's happening in my marriage, my hope is still in the Lord. Yes, I have fears and worries. Who doesn't? But in spite of the pain, I'm choosing to trust His ways and His timing. It's not easy to live up to that, but with God's grace I know I can.

I want to share with you what I've learned last Friday about prayer from Jerry Savelle Ministries. It's so powerful. Here are my notes:
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18
Note that Prayer is not designed to change God. It's designed to change circumstances. God doesn't need changing. God is not the problem.

There are three major weapons we have access to when we pray:
  1. The Name of Jesus
  2. The Word of God
  3. The Holy Spirit
There are three divisions of prayer:
  1. Prayer that changes things.
  2. Prayer of thanksgiving and praise.
  3. Prayer of dedication and worship.
The Prayer of Dedication is where we utter the words, "if it be thy will." Let's say you're sick, you don't pray, "Lord, if it be thy will, please heal me." We already know that it is God's will to heal us. It is written in Isaiah 53:5, "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." It's done. Let's say you don't know whether you should stay or go on mission, you then use the prayer of dedication and say, "Lord, if it be thy will, send me to that country." You're dedicating your plans to Him and of course as you dedicate, worship Him. Here you don't know the known will of God in that situation.

The Prayer of Thanksgiving is thanking God in advance for what He's about to do. That's our expression of faith, that even we haven't gotten hold yet of the answer, we are already thanking and praising Him for it.

The Prayer that changes things or also called the Prayer of Petition is a prayer prayed in faith. It is a prayer that refuses to be moved by what it sees. It is a prayer that will not allow negative circumstances to dictate whether or not you believe that prayer will come to pass. It is a prayer that changes the impossible to possible.

The question is how desperate are you for a breakthrough? No matter how impossible it is your facing now, don't give up! Don't lose heart! Why give up when you can pray?

What is a petition? It is a formal request. It is a formal request addressed to a person in authority asking for some grant or benefit. It is a formal application in writing.

How does a prayer of petition work?
  1. Write down your prayer request. Yes, write it down like a formal contract.
  2. Allow God's Word to be the final authority. Look for scriptures in the Bible that speaks about your situation or need. Quote them.
  3. Present back to God what He already said.
The Prayer of Petition is so powerful because it is based on the will of God. We don't go around the bush wondering whether or not God will grant us our request. We know He will because we are praying according to His will.

This is not a magical formula like a name it-claim it thing. We are simply presenting to God our prayer requests, especially when what we're asking seem to not jive with what we can see in the natural. Remember, nothing is impossible with our God. He will make a way where there seem to be no way. Try God.

Here's a sample of a Prayer of Petition by Pastor Jerry Savelle.

"... The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16

"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20

Please stand with me in prayer and agreement for:
  1. My own prayer request. Please see post below.
  2. All prodigals around the globe to come to their senses, repent of their sins, go back to God and eventually to their families.
  3. Financial provision for Angie.
  4. My friend "S" who needs urgent financial provision to pay her bills and her electricity or it will be shut off next week.
I also have a praise report! My friend "S" asked me to pray for her air conditioning unit that was then broken to be fixed. For some reasons it was such an "impossible" thing to happen in her situation, God came through for her. She emailed me this morning and said it's fixed. Thank you, Lord.

Thankful Thursday

Thursday, May 21, 2009

My heart is crushed. But I still thank the Lord for:
  • His Word that gives me hope and strength to go on each day.
  • His promise that I am sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30
  • His promise that He will soon crush satan under my feet. Romans 16:20
  • My Prayer Warriors who don't get tired of lifting my husband and I up in prayer.
  • His assurance of victory. "For the Lord my God is the one who goes with me to fight for me against my enemies to give me victory." Deuteronomy 20:4
  • Holding my marriage on the palm of His hand.
"If God is for me, who can be against me?" Romans 8:31
I'd like to knock on each of your hearts, please pray for me and my husband. Please pray for restoration and healing in my marriage.

Life's Lessons

Tuesday, May 19, 2009
I'm one exam away from getting my insurance agent license. Yipee! This was why I've been missing out a lot on blogging lately. Why I'm into insurance is a totally different story. I'll tell you why next time. Yesterday was our last day of seminar and we had our graduation. Yes, you read it right. Can you believe that? I had another graduation this year, my second! They presented us with our certificates of completion and had our pictures taken too. Nothing extravagant. We weren't even prepared for it, well, at least for the picture-taking part we weren't. But it felt good having completed another course and passing the exams. When it was almost over, I saw my situation in light with the ceremony. I said in almost a whisper, "God, when will I graduate from this too?"

Like the classes and seminars I took, God also gave me "seminars" and series of exams in life which I needed to pass to get on to the next level. You and I are all in a class learning about LIFE. And our Great Professor who patiently teaches, guides and instructs us, also gives us assignments and tests. He appoints different assignments for each of us. This is my assignment in life. The truth is, it's very hard. I believe I started getting a passing grade just last year when I decided to obey Him. I started practicing what He taught me even when it hurts. It took a long while before I finally gotten sick of failing in my LIFE exams. I realized I wouldn't fare well in my "report card" with a rotten attitude. Not a chance!

How are you doing with your assignment?

Hmm... I wonder when will the Great Professor let me graduate again... a third time? I know... no, I'm sure that that graduation will top all graduations I've ever had in my life. And you know what? I'm excited!!!

Thankful Thursday

Thursday, May 14, 2009

I prayed a simple prayer last night. I told Him, "God, I don't really understand why I'm feeling this way, but whatever it is that's bothering me, I'm surrendering everything to you - my fears, my worries, my thoughts... Even if I don't understand any of this, I'm choosing right now to trust in your ways and timing. I know they are perfect. Lord, I'm gonna sleep now. Good night. Love you."

I had a peaceful, good night rest last night. Thank you, Father. You truly are amazing.

How about you, what are you thankful for this week?

Refocus

Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Yesterday, I felt really bad because I got mad with the agent and the supervisor I was talking to on the phone for the delivery of my credit card. I blew my top. I know...

I feel jaded. I hate it when I feel this way. I don't understand how I feel and that irks me. I used to feel this way a lot two years ago when I didn't really have peace like I have now. Now it's trying to get its ugly head up again. Argh! I wrote two of my dear friends an email when they shared to me what's going on with them. They are two of my prayer partners. As I write to them, I felt like I was being renewed. I was reminded of who my God is. I was reminded of how faithful He is. I guess somehow I've been feeling impatient for the long wait but then again, it's not about me. It's all about Him, His timing and His ways... They are perfect! I needed to refocus.

Thank God for the opportunity He gave me to encourage my friends because in return I was also encouraged myself.

Fearless Friday

Friday, May 8, 2009
Photobucket

My friends and I (we're five in all) have decided to pray for our needs together, wherever we are, at 11 pm (Philippine time) everyday. Two friends of mine from overseas (Lanie and Sylvia) joined in with me too. Depending on what time 11 pm falls on where they're at, we all pray together at the same time. We allot this time to present our needs and thanksgiving to God. We're all believing for answered prayers, miracles and breakthroughs for each of us.

Fearless Friday is also an avenue for me to be able to pray for the needs of others and for others to pray for mine too. And I'm glad I can join this week's Fearless Friday once again.

Come and join us in prayer! Just click the lion above to visit Angie @ Free Spirit Haven. If you have any prayer request, just leave me a comment and I will pray for you.
"... The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20
" Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
Please stand with me in prayer and agreement for:
  1. All prodigals around the world to come home to their respective families.
  2. Salvation of our unsaved loved ones.
