Thankful Thursday

Thursday, May 29, 2008

This week I thank God for:
  • My new phone. I just realized that months back I told God that I wanted to buy a new camera and a new iPod video. I could buy them now, of course, by using my credit card. BUT I won't! That'll add up on my credit card debt which I'm trying to pay off the soonest possible time. But God knows what I want (read: not need) and He gave me a phone that has both a camera (better than my old one) and an mp3 player (like that of an iPod). And here's a bonus, it also has a video recorder. All in one. Surely, God knows better.
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" Matthew 7:11
  • The half sack of rice I received. You see, that's a staple here in the Philippines and the price for this had gone up. Quite a number of people can't even afford to buy this for their family anymore. Then our company has given all its employees half sack of rice for free! Thank you, Lord!
And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
  • Wisdom. My friend was suppose to give me a pup. A Shih Tzu. I was preparing for it already and I was so excited. But for days I didn't have peace about having a pet at this time in my life. I wouldn't be able to care for it as much I want to because I'm always out. I thank God for the wisdom because if I went along with my plan, it might cause me and the pup more harm than good. I'm sure someone else is there, more equipped, to care for that pup.
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him." James 1:5

A Night Of Jazz

Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Last Saturday after the church service, my friend Rolly and I went to join other friends at the Bahay Ligaya Restaurant somewhere in White Plains. There was an enchanting event produced by Norman Castillo - A Night of Jazz. Let me tell you, the food was superb! Love it! The place was so inviting, so cozy, so much like home. I'm not fond of jazz, really, but I know when someone CAN sing. Lovely voices, jazz singers Stella Ignacio and Fil-Jap Aisaku. I was so impressed with how good they scat. Wow! A guy who's far more senior than most of us, still very much good looking, Poch Suzarra, plays the drums excellently. Oh goodness, Mr. Marcie Estrella is an ace when it comes to playing the harmonica. Believe me, I was surrounded by beautiful and gifted people. The event was made alive by the very talented Jada. Indeed, it was a night to remember.

Thankful Thursday

Thursday, May 22, 2008

Last night I was in bed reflecting on how God has truly been good to me. I couldn't utter any other words but "thank you, Lord". For many months and even years that I have been suffering, I've asked God many times if He had forgotten me already. I felt more like it was hell on earth and by that I meant "hellest" of hell if there's such a word. Yes, it was that bad. I even remembered telling God that death was such a welcome breeze, please come and take me now.

And now, I'm experiencing such favor and blessing I've never had any taste of before. And in spite of the mountains still in front of me, I have an unspeakable joy that I know came from God. I'm still waiting for my breakthrough to come. For some of you who have been with me in my life's journey know what I'm waiting for. I know in my heart, by faith, that my miracle is on its way. In the mean time, I'd like to savor the joy and peace God has given me. I'm really grateful. Thank you, Jesus.
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart" Psalm 37:4

Post Mother's Day Celebration

Monday, May 19, 2008
My family had a post Mother's Day celebration last Saturday. I was with my mom and dad, my sister, my nephews and the two nannies. We all went to the Manila Ocean Park in the morning.
Part of it was still under construction and my favorite - the shark - wasn't as big as I expected it to be... yet. Oh, and I was able to touch a live starfish. It was a first. When MOP is completed, this will house the first and largest aquarium facility in the Philippines and is the most advanced ocean parks in Asia — with an area larger than the famous Sentosa oceanarium in Singapore.
After lunch, we checked in at the Diamond Hotel Philippines and spent the night at one of its Executive Suites. I have my boss to thank for that, he gave me a Gift Certificate and promised to give me 10 more once my husband comes home. Wow! The room we occupied has a breathtaking view of Manila Bay and the complimentary buffet breakfast at its Palm Cafe Restaurant was superb.

On our way home, my mom asked me to go with her to the salon for a foot spa. All I can say was wow! These were blessings from God... I didn't even spend a single cent for all of these.

Thank you, Lord!

Father's Love Letter

Friday, May 16, 2008
This is the second time I heard this and again it touched my heart deeply. I want to share this to all of you because I want you to experience the same love I felt while listening to God's Word. It's just like hearing the voice of God from heaven. I'd suggest that you listen to this with your eyes closed.

Dumpster

Cartoonist's Comment: Don't let bad thoughts and feelings weigh you down. Dump them in the trash bin of forgiveness, and go on with your life.

This is what I've been doing lately - some sort of a cleansing process. Anything that's weighing me down, I release to God. It feels a lot better to obey our Lord. You should try it. ♥

Peace

Monday, May 12, 2008
I can't explain the peace in my heart in spite of all the problems I'm facing. I can only sit back and be grateful to my Lord Jesus for it...
The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty." Haggai 2:9
Thank you, Lord, for this promise.

This week I thank God:
  • For the joy and peace in my heart knowing that He is in control of everything that's happening in my life.
  • For my new job assignment. My boss is kind and so are the people I work with. Thank you, Lord.
  • For providing me the money to pay all my bills this month.
  • For winning the Nix Socks giveaway hosted by Andrea. I'm giving this to my niece, Gaby, as a gift for her birthday.
  • For His love, mercy and patience towards my husband and myself. I believe in my heart that He is at work even on the other side of my mountain.

I Won!

Monday, May 5, 2008
I joined the Nix Socks Giveaway hosted by Andrea at The Laughs Will Go On and I won! Yay! I'm going to give this to my two year old niece, Gaby, whom I haven't seen yet in person since she was born. My brother's family has been in the states for three years now. Oh, by the way,

Belated happy birthday, Gaby!

It was her birthday last week.

Anyway, I'm enjoying my work so far. I thank God for it. I was told this morning that the company is going to have an out of town seminar this May and they're thinking of sending me. Yay! Nothing's final yet but I'll keep y'all posted. By the way, I still haven't taken a picture of my plants. Nope, I haven't forgotten. I will, maybe next week.

Thankful Thursday

Okay, I got my new phone the other day but I found out that it was defective. So I had to call the cell phone company that issued me the phone to replace it. They agreed only later they called back to inform me that they didn't have an available unit of the same model and asked if I wanted a different brand. I said no, not unless they'd replace it with an iPhone. Yeah, I know, I was being a bit difficult, but I was nice really. They promised to do eveything they can to find me a replacement for my N95 and would get back to me as soon as possible. I guess that's settled. Anyway, tomorrow would be a whole new day for me because I'd be in a new office, my own office space, my own room actually. There still has a lot of work to do but it's alright.

Oh, did I tell you that I have four plants at my balcony? One pot is a horsetail bamboo and the three others are from the family of carnation. I don't know what they're called. I'll take a picture of them later on. I wanted a pup or a kitty but no one's going to take care of them while I'm at work. So I took up a new hobby and that is growing greens... for now.

This week I thank God:

  • For allowing me to know the answers to questions I've been having in my mind regarding some people from my work place. I've been feeling odd for quite some time now and couldn't shrug off some issues that were bothering me. It was my last day at work in that office yesterday and I was surprised when one of these people showed up at my condo and confided in me. Of course I was glad to be of help. I'm also glad that those issues I had have already been resolved and are now a thing of the past.
  • For Cherry, my broker, who helped me relay my request to the unit owner to renew our contract every six months instead of yearly. My request was granted. Thank you, Lord.
