Thankful Thursday

Thursday, April 30, 2009
This week, I thank God for:
  • Keeping me safe. Thank you, Father, for your divine protection upon me.
  • Revelation. He has been constantly teaching me about His ways and revealing to me things that I haven't thought about before.
"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever..." Deuteronomy 29:29
  • His blessings and favor.
  • Healing me from my colds. I'm feeling a lot better today.
  • Giving me peace and joy in my heart in the midst of my troubles.
  • Assuring me that where I'm at is just temporary and that He loves me too much to let me stay here in the pit.
"Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again." Psalm 71:20-21
  • My Father in heaven. My God is a BIG God. There's no marriage He cannot fix. There's no person He cannot change. There's no problem He cannot solve.
  • His promises.
"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God." 2 Corinthians 1:20
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11
Father, I offer to you my thanksgiving and praise for You are an amazing God!

The Bus

Monday, April 27, 2009
I took the bus going to work this morning. I normally would sit near the aisle so I could get off the bus easily. But this morning I chose to sit at the far left near the window. Nothing special. The young couple who got off not five minutes ago came running back to the bus. I was totally oblivious on what's going on. I was busy tinkering with my iPod trying to get the right volume so I could hear clearly the podcast I was listening to about prayer.

The guy said, "Did anyone notice the man who was standing right here (pointing to the spot he was standing)?" The girl he was with was on the verge of tears.

The people in front, mostly ladies said, "There are a lot of people getting on and off the bus, which man are you talking about?" "Why, what happened?"

They guy lost his cell phone!

I thought, that could have been me. If I sat on the same spot where I'd normally sit, the man who took the guy's cell phone would have taken my iPod. I knew right there and then that God had been protecting me all along. When I got off the bus I just started thanking God for His divine protection.

I feel sorry for the young couple.

Thankful Thursday

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Just this morning, I was again tempted to take things in my own hands... to do things my way. I knew it wasn't what God wanted me to do but at that time it felt so right. WRONG!
"Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?" Galatians 3:3
The feeling I've felt earlier was overwhelming. I felt so rejected... so pushed aside. I prayed and cried to God.

I thank the Lord for reminding me that He is in control. That I should not be terrified or give way to panic for the Lord my God is the one who goes with me to fight for me against my enemies to give me victory.

I thank the Lord for my friend Babette who reminded me of Satan's tactics.
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy..." John 10:10
Lord, thank you for taking me back to your arms of comfort and assuring me again of my victory in Christ Jesus.
"...If God is for me, who can be against me?" Romans 8:31

What Has God Promised You

Tuesday, April 21, 2009
Joseph knew that one day he was going to rise to a position of great authority. The problem? He was a slave who had just been accused of rape.

Do you know what God is going to do for you, but your circumstance right now seems to have a sign that says IMPOSSIBLE?

In the Bible, nearly every story is filled with incredible hardship, shaking and hopeless situations. But the characters involved held on to what God promised them and never gave up. They took God at His word. Even when they were at their lowest, they didn't let go of what God had said. Our story could be just as inspiring as theirs . . . if we don’t give up.

No matter who we are, where we live, what we’ve accomplished or what we’ve lost, we have a promise that God is waiting to fulfill. And He will fulfill that promise — if we don’t give up. If He’s told us He will do something, then it’s already done. So in a way we can’t give up, because we’re guaranteed to accomplish what He said. ~ John Paul Jackson of Streams Ministries.

What has God told you? If He told you He would do something, then it is as good as done.
10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:10–11

Thankful Thursday - I Am God's Daughter

Thursday, April 16, 2009

I thank the Lord for letting me experience more of Him lately. I mean, I have been a Christian for many years now but I have never experienced God really moving in my life as He is now. I know His arm is outstretched towards me.

I was thinking two days ago what my life has become. Certainly, I didn't like the pain, but I am now able to thank God for it because I noticed (and my friends too) a big change in me. I feel like I have been transformed by God to be the person He wanted me to be. I wish it didn't have to be this painful but God knew all along that it needed to be that way to get me to where I am now. I told God last night that I wouldn't want to go back to what I used to be. I like myself better now.

When I prayed and told God that I trust His ways and His timing, I even got surprised at myself because those words really came from my heart... and I truly meant it. I can now grasp the idea of being my Father's daughter... His Princess.

Lord, thank you for this awakening. I know that in all things... including this... will work out for the good of those who love You... and I do... and who have been called according to Your purpose... and I am. To God be all the glory!

Mighty To Save

Monday, April 13, 2009
I used to hate Holy Week. I really didn't have the understanding back then what Holy Week was all about. All I can remember was I had to be sad because Jesus was dead. We used to go to my grandma's house in the province and stay there almost the entire week watching men whipped themselves and get crucified... yeah, to lessen their sins. That really didn't make sense to me even at a young age.

Thank God that changed!

I thank the Lord Jesus for dying not just for my sins but for my physical and marital healing as well.

I thank God that Jesus is risen. My hope is not in vain because my Lord lives!

My Savior, He can move my mountain... He is mighty to save!

May all of us experience the power of Jesus' resurrection.

Everyone needs compassion,
Love that's never failing;
Let mercy fall on me.

Everyone needs forgiveness,
The kindness of a Saviour;
The Hope of nations.

Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.

Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

So take me as You find me,
All my fears and failures,
Fill my life again.

I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in,
Now I surrender.

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

Shine your light and let the whole world see,
We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus (x2)

My Saviour, He can move the mountains,
My God is Mighty to save,
He is Mighty to save.
Forever, Author of salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conquered the grave.

My Saviour, you can move the mountains,
You are mighty to save,
You are mighty to save.
Forever, Author of Salvation,
You rose and conquered the grave,
Yes you conquered the grave

I Rest In His Loving Arms

Tuesday, April 7, 2009
When God gave you a promise and yet your circumstances dictate just the opposite, will you back down and give up or will you stand on His promise no matter what?

The easiest thing to do is to throw in the towel and just walk away. Exactly what the others have been wanting me to do. They have underlying reason for wanting this for their own benefit. Then people started questioning if I really heard from Him or was it just me hearing what I wanted to hear. That hurts.

In my heart I knew I heard from God.

I was hurting so bad. I was so broken... I sought the Lord, cried out to Him. He led me to this -
1 When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. 2 When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. 3 He shall say: "Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. 4 For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." Deuteronomy 20:1-4
I rest in the loving arms of a mighty God ever assuring my victory.
No weapon forged against my marriage will prevail, and I will refute every tongue that accuses me. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is my vindication from the LORD." Isaiah 54:17
Would you please remember me and my husband in prayer?

Thankful Thursday - Hope

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I thank the Lord for the hope He has given me. If not for it and His promises, I would have given up on life a long time ago. Hope from Him and His promises are the ones that keep me going. I thank God that He loves me that much to have given me something to hold on to. I thank God for not giving up on me even when so many times I've thought of giving up on life.

I give God all the glory for what He has done, is doing and is about to do in my life and marriage.
"...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6
