Forgiving Me

How do you forgive yourself?

I never would've thought about this until my friend Sylvia brought it up a few minutes ago. I confided in her what was troubling me and how I felt. She knew I was crying my eyeballs out last night because I left her a message on her answering machine. She noticed that I kept on bringing up the past and the person I used to be. She also noticed that although I've already asked God for forgiveness, I still have yet to forgive myself. And you know, she's right!

So how do you really forgive yourself?

Dear Pia,

I'm so sorry that you had been feeling troubled and weeping. I have experienced the difficulty of forgiving myself at one stage. Like you, I found that even though I knew God had forgiven me, it was difficult for me to forgive myself.

My breakthrough came when I prayed to the Father and imagined that all that I did wrong was in a bag, and I put that bag at the foot of the cross. When I heard Jesus said, "it is finished." I had the courage to forgive myself.

I pray the same for you, that you can let go and let God dear!

Pia, I am able to forgive myself because God's Word says I am forgiven. That's enough for me. I also realize that I can learn from my mistakes so I won't repeat them. And I realize there may be consequences but God is with me through them all.

Blessings and hugs,
Debbie

Oh, sweet Pia, I, too, have struggled with just this and know that I asked God to forgive me over and over, although I certainly did not need to do that. I eventually learned. Then I had to learn how to forgive me. I did the same thing by repeatedly forgiving myself, yet God drew me near and whispered that I was forgiven once and for always. I accepted His powerful words and finally moved on.

Draw near to Him. He is right there by you, with you.
You are in my prayers. ~ linda

You can forgive yourself by casting your cares to the Lord. You may still be blaming yourself for the mess that happened in your life. But you must realize that nothing happens in our lives that the Lord did not ordain or at least permitted to happen whether good or bad. You are already a new creation. If the Lord has forgiven you and completely erased the memory of your sins, why can't you forgive your own self? You are just being accused unnecessarily by the enemy because he wants you to be miserable and stew in your own guilt. Just surrender everything to the Lord and let Him be God in your life. Remember, "All things work together for the good of those who loved Him, who have been called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28). Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

I've been there, right where you are and it's so difficult. But it will come. And it will be so amazing.

Hugs,
Lisa
