Bearer Of Bad News

Wednesday, March 1, 2006
I was going through my daily reads and planning to write something positive after, but I was cut short when I was called by our HR to discuss to me something about the number of employees in my department. After that short discussion, my happy aura turned bleak. I went back to my desk with a dazed expression on my face.

One thing I was never really good at is terminating someone from employment. Well, I'm not really the one to terminate them (that's the work of our HR) but I'll be the one initiating the termination. And I said THEM, meaning there's more than one. I could feel my temperature rising while I was figuring out how I'd deliver the awful news to my staff. But I wasn't left with any choice, it's a management order and I have to do it. They're implementing a head count reduction and my department is one of those affected. Tomorrow, I have to start preparing the papers needed for this. It breaks my heart. Oh, God, I hate to be the bearer of bad news!

May God grant you wisdom and I'll pray for everyone affected.

It must be difficult for you Pia. Trust that God will give you the wisdom. I know that you'll give those involved dignity as you share the news.

Sorry to hear this. May God grant you wisdom and strength and may He bless those affected by it.

God's Grace.

oh Pia I'm sorry. Hubby had to do this a while back and it caused him a lot of stress.

Pia, I'm so sorry about you having to go through something like this. I myself know what it's like and how stressful it can be to "let go" those that you have worked with and become friends with. It can be very distasteful at times but with God's wisedom and guidance he'll give you the right words to say. We'll be praying for you

Saying a prayer for you while you are having to be the bearer of bad news.

What an awful thing to have to do, Pia.

You have a wonderful blog here; it's beautifully done.

I am so sorry that you have to be the bearer of bad news pia. God will give you the boldness, strength and words to say to these employess. I'll keep you in prayer. BTW, my mom is visiting the Philippines right now. She'll be spending her time between Manila and Bataan. :)

I'm not sure this will help...I would much rather be terminated by someone as kind and loving as you than by a tyrant of a boss.

You care so deeply, I love this about you.

Lifting you in prayer, that would be awful. Praying for the people losing their jobs too. Where God shuts one door, he opens another!

I feel really badly for you all. That is so sad.

This is most unfortunate.
My heart goes out to you and those who will be affected.
Just be strong.
Pray for wisdom and discernment.

We pray that this difficult task goes as well as can be expected...even better.

That is a hard thing to do! But God is strong where you are weak, and He'll help you through it!

Ohhh....I'd have a hard time with that too. I'll be thinking about you.

I like the look of your site, btw. Sorry I haven't stopped by in awhile.

Take care.

PIA,

I had a really bad week as well. If any of them had recieved salvation, enourcage them to learn from Micah, which I try every time I fall be it from work, family, friends or reality of life...

Micah 7:8, "Do not rejoice over me, O My enemy. Though I fall I will rise; Though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is the light for me."

I am praying with you PIA:-)

Pia, There is a blessing in the storm. Everything is already planned out and designed in a way that will prosper, not harm, God's anointed ones. You are just a part of the plan. So praise God for the opportunity to play such an integral part in His will. You are sowing seeds of prosperity into the people's lives. Even though it seems like the end of the road. Some people will be upset, but they will be preparing for good news, for the best is yet to come. The Holy Ghost will take care of them, give them comfort, right judgement, and direction. God will lead many of them to better pay, better positions, career changes, time with their family, renewed relationships with friends, a better sense of self, and many many more gifts. This is just a stepping stone on the path to bigger things for all whom God has assigned this intricate path. Be encouraged in the Lord, and know of my prayers for you in the face of what seems like adversity, but is really favor. Peace and Blessings.

Oh Pia, I'm so sorry that you had to go through that with your job. It is so hard to do something you don't agree with. Hope you are okay.
