The Horror!

I had my tooth extracted last Saturday. The horror!

I'm scared of dentists and that's a fact. I had a traumatic experience with a dentist as a kid. Though I only had one extraction in the past, it sure scared the crap out of me. I never wanted to go back to the dentist ever again. Of course, that wasn't possible because I was always dragged by my parents to the dentist for my dental prophylaxis. Those drills, it pains my ears!!! It made me squirm on my seat. And it still does now!

I didn't have a choice, my tooth cracked while eating french fries. Yes, french fries! I knew I had to visit my dentist again because I needed to have it checked. As she looked at it, she said that she needed to remove the tooth. Good heavens! I immediately turned white as snow, even my dentist noticed it. Haha!

I take good care of my teeth because I hate visits to the dentist. Well, I guess this time that wouldn't suffice anymore because I was asked to go see her again after six months. The horror!

Awwwww I'm so sorry sweetheart. I hope it all gets a little easier to deal with. Maybe Jec can hold your hand next time? Love you both! ;-)

I am so sorry, girl. I wish I could go for you and spare you the horror, I am not afraid of the dentist at all.

I am afraid of doctors. With the dentist you know your problem is limited to your mouth, but seeing a doctor....you never know what problem you come out with, haha.
Which reminds me, I have to make a dentist appointment.

Yeah, maybe next time Jec can go with you?

Luv ya, girlie.

God's Grace.

There are few terrors greater than the dentist.

When I go, which is not often enough, I have to retreat into an imaginary world until it's over.

So how do you take good care of your teeth? I also kind of afraid of dentists too hehe.

Have a blessed Easter?

ahhh. I had a horrible time with my wisdom teeth. I developed several infections, and had to be reopened and operated on 3 different times!!! That has put a "bad taste in my mouth" (ha ha) for dentists!

Hope you have a good day!

curm: yup, not at all! =)

audrey: i guess my tooth then was already brittle (?) and when i ate french fries, it lead to it's demise. hahaha!

KC: beleive it or not, jec wasn't just holding my hand but my legs too. =)

corry: wow! you're not scared of dentists? my hats off to you. just the site of them makes me sweat -- cold sweat! jec came along with me and he was laughing. =( hahaha... =)

joe: hahaha... i wish i can do that. why not? i'll try that when i go back to see her. =)

kitty: i brush, i floss, i gargle with mouth wash. i don't use my teeth to open cans or even soft drink bottles. haha... =)

paula: join the club! =)

kristi: i thank God that my wisdom teeth didn't cause me any problem at all except when one of them broke and i had to see my dentist last saturday. i got so scared when she said that if it wouldn't come out, she has to perform an operation. oh, goodness! thank God it did. whew!

dawn: try what joe said. retreat to an imaginary world until your appointment is over. tell me if it worked for you. =)

shenna: i thought so too. =)

EGADS! I hate going to the dentist too! I haven't been since 1997! Gross, huh? I know I need to soon or all my teeth will fall out. Then I'll blend in with the NC natives in this area...LOL. Seriously, I can't stand that stuff. I had an accident when I was 9 years old and had to get 3 false teeth...after they pulled all the roots out. Ug! And caps on the front as well! I have the eebeegeebees just thinking of THE CHAIR!

You ever have those dreams that your teeth get loose and fall out? I do all the time... and its always a front tooth!
Im suppose to get something called an ANLAY *not sure on spelling* on one of my really big molars in the back. It was filled years ago (cavity) and the Dentist used a silver filling. Silver fillings are fine if they are small.. but because this cavity was so large its causing problems.

Silver fillings contract with cold or hot temps. So when its cold it shrinks up... and when its hot it expands some. Now resulting in my tooth cracking...

If I dont get it fixed in a few years they said my tooth could possible crack in half... yikes...
Then'd I'd have to get a crown on top of it or something like that...

One Anlay though cost like 900 dollars... crazy... so we have to save up. (anlays are a gold band that wrap around the tooth to hold it together - cant be seen cause its so far back in my mouth).

But yes... I do not enjoy going to the dentist. I try to go ever 6 mo. for a cleaning.
I floss daily though. And since I started doing that I have had very easy and comfortable checkups :-)

OMG - I am sooooo sorry - I don't like denists either - but my sister and sister-in-law are both in the dental fields - so I recently dragged myself in and had to have half of one of my back tooth replaced - I was in pain for over a week - YUCK!!!! And I also, have to go back in a few months - YUCK!!!

Praying for ya!

Oh man! I had to see the dentist for a broken tooth in the fall and had a root canal. If I'd just taken care of it sooner, I don't think it would have been so bad!

Sorry you had to go.

Thanks for your sweetness to me, Pia. I'm blessed by you.

nanz: $1,500? now, that's horrible. that's even crazier than drea's $900 bucks.

I used to hate the dentist til I found one with small fingers and a really nice person- (of course he also is nice to look at-staring into baby blue eyes is great)

The key is to find someone you like. Ask people who they go to. Ask them about their personality.

I used to gag so much-but that has stopped because my dentist is very relaxed and not fast pace. He always compliments me now that I am not gagging so much. Hope you find a good one.

When I was a kid I didn't mind the dentist at all. Nice laughing gas, free toothbrush--not bad at all. As I've gotten older, and actually gotten a good look at the needle that injects the novacaine, I hate going. I've broken several teeth, had them fixed with crowns, then pulled out the crowns and had them replaced. It's expensive. I'm sure I've spent thousands to keep a full set of teeth.

my dentist is a she. hehe... but she's good. she's light handed compared to others. i had one dentist in the past that i hated so much because everytime i have my teeth checked, she's close to putting her whole hand in my mouth which made me felt like choking most of the time. i changed my dentist since then. =)

bad alice: needles gives me the shivers! =)
